I don't know how to feel about Liam and pirate coats, either. I'm imagining him in the full get-up and going "ARGH, MATEY!"
No no no it's cool I got this. See, he started out traveling with a bunch of Navy guys and he was all "oh God I will be so glad to be back on land" except then Cap'n Xerxes and his utterly nutty tea party full of pirates raided that particular Navy boat, see, and Liam wound up stuck with them. They were gonna hold him for ransom 'cause he is the son of an earl after all but waiting for a response was boring and so they went off and had adventurous treasure-finding shenanigans and Liam was like DDDDDDDDD8 the whole time. At long last he was returned home, where he began to realize he had secretly enjoyed himself, so when Xerxes ran into him again later while skulking sneakily through town Liam was all, "...goddammit" and went along with him for more adventures, and now he follows Break all over the boat and yells at him all day.
